Deodhar et al. investigated the impact on efficacy and safety of escalating secukinumab dose from 150mg to 300mg Q4W in AS patients who did not achieve inactive disease during an initial 16-week period of 150mg secukinumab. At Week 52, clinical safety response rates were similar across groups continuing with 150mg or escalating to 300mg secukinumab.

Evidence from two phase 3 RCTs showed that patients with PsA and axial involvement had greater responses when treated with a once-daily oral dose of 15 mg upadacitinib versus placebo, and a similar or greater response versus adalimumab. Safety results were comparable between patients with or without axial involvement.

It was also surmised that the use of adjunctive pain and anti-inflammatory medications were similar between therapies.
