Incidência, Prevalência e Co-ocorrência de Distúrbios Autoimunes ao longo do tempo e por Idade, Sexo e Status Socioeconômico: Um estudo de coorte com base na população de 22 milhões de indivíduos do Reino Unido
Lancet. 2023; 401(10391):1878–1890 doi 10.1016/S0140-6736(23)00457-9
Incidence rates for autoimmune diseases increased between 2000 and 2019 in the UK, notably in coeliac disease, Sjogren's syndrome, and Graves' disease. Pernicious anaemia and Hashimoto's thyroiditis had the greatest decrease in incidence. These disorders affected about 10% of the population, with socioeconomic, seasonal, and regional variations observed.
This UK population-based study by Conrad, et al. examined the incidence and prevalence of 19 common autoimmune diseases from 2000 to 2019, analysing trends by various factors. Among the more than 22 million individuals assessed, 978,872 received new autoimmune disease diagnoses. Co-occurrence of autoimmune diseases was common, suggesting shared mechanisms.
